Loris Sasso and Nils Peschanski both grew up in the Parisian suburbs, la banlieue, a space outside the pressure cooker of central Paris where bored teens can dream, experiment and develop their own forms of expression. Their musical vision draws on a love of artists from Erikah Badu, Frank Ocean and Justin Timberlake to Jamie XX and Radiohead, and always with an emphasis on sincerity, simplicity, love and moments of hared pleasure.
Tracks like ‘Your Love’ and ‘The Flow’ tap into the easy, hooky sophistication of the best Rn’B while others, like the duo’s current favourite ‘Black Roses’, are brimful of the positivity and unvarnished emotion you find in early house.
